Hawaii Part Three

Steam Vents at Mt. Kilauea

Mt. Kilauea

We hiked around where the last lava flow occurred. They actually

let you walk around on the active volcano! It was like walking on the moon.

Sulfur Banks

Yes, they do stink. It was also suggested that people

with breathing problems or children should stay

away. . .but nothing about childish asthmatics?

A Beautiful Orchid by the Sulfur Banks

It was actually cold up there, weird huh?

Dad on the Hike Down to the Volcano

It was the most beautiful and spooky hike we've been on.

We started at 5:30 and didn't get back up until well after dark.

Good thing we brought flashlights! We went back up through

the rainforest at night. No one else was on the trail with us.

Fun and creepy!

Evidence of a Large Earthquake

We walked right through here.

Dad Roasting Marshmallows on the Hike

That could be why it was dark when we got back.

We were trying to get the perfect marshmallow shot.

Which one do you like?

This is what we saw when we got up to the top of the trail.

We were right down there! It wasn't glowing

when we were walking around it.

Geckos were all over the place

This little guy was waiting on our porch light

when we got back from the volcano.

Dad's Father's Day Breakfast

The best drink on the island is called POG juice.

(Passion fruit, Orange juice, and Guava juice.)

The bread is guava bread. That's what he fed to

his red-headed bird friend. Oh, and the best

music we found was a Hawaiian reggae station KWXX.

You can stream it through the internet. Check it out Broseph!

Having our Last Island Dinner

Bubba Gump's in Kona

Our Last Magical Sunset in Kona

Some day we may retire there and open up a Mexican fish taco stand.

We can call it "Iz You Hungry?" Still working on the angle

to get me back on that island!

Sadly, All Good Things Must End.

Hawaii Part Two

A Bird that Visited Us Every Day

Dad Being Sly to Get a Picture of the Bird

Dad Found a Target While We were There.

They all wore red Hawaiian shirts, dad's going to work on

getting some for his store.

Akaka Falls in Hilo, Hawaii

Sliding into Akaka Falls

Tarzan trying to Swing into the Falls

Rainbow Falls in Hilo, Hawaii

Dad-Looking Like a Lil' Boy

There was a giant drop off under him, I was worried!

This was a trail off of the scenic route to Hilo.

A Ranch Outside of Akaka Falls

The ocean is in the background, now that's the way to live!

Kayaking to the Cook Monument

I didn't want to get fried! We went snorkeling there.

Beautiful fish, pictures to come. :)

Our Anniversary Dinner at Brown's Beach House.

It was a beautiful sunset. At sunset a Polynesian man stood out on the rocks

and blew into a conch shell to the four corners of the earth, then ran

and lit the torches along the sidewalk.

Yes, We're Spending Your Inheritance

Diving Into Vacation

(There were sea turtles just in front of me)

The Black Sand Beaches Felt Wonderful

Hiking to the Green Sand Beach at South Point

(There is a Native Prayer Altar in the Background)

On a Cliff off of the Scenic Route to Hilo

Exploring Underground Lava Caves

(Spooky and Cool, We needed a flashlight to go deeper into the caves. It was called the Queen's
Bath in Kapolo, Hawaii. Very hard to find, we were the only ones there for a while until a local and his son came in.)

These were filled with Fresh Water from the mountains,

but  just feet away from the beach.

A Sunbathing Sea Turtle we found in a cove,

just outside the Queen's Bath.

(Dad swam with about 5 or 6 sea turtles here)

Swimming in a pond above the Akaka Falls

Dad Relaxing on the Green Sand Beach

(It is green from the Olivine which comes from the nearby volcano)

No, we didn't bring any home. . .that would be wrong because signs posted said don't do it;

even if you are a teacher and can use it in your science unit on volcanos.

A Lava Tube that Opened Up for Some Daring Divers at South Point

(Did you know the southern most tip of the United States is in Ka Lae, Hawaii?

I thought it was Key West.)

Hilarious Pose, I was Trying to Take it When a Wave Splashed Up

Ta-Daa!!!!
This is the jewelry holder I made out of a picture frame, I know, crafty.

My jewelry on it.

I repainted the frames from our wedding to decorate our room.

This is the dresser we built. It is crooked and the drawers don't pull out all the way. I blame thomas. Thomas blames me. Maybe we can all blame Ikea??

Our lavatory! We built the over the toilet deal, I think it's pretty fly.

Another view of the lavatory.

Grama's perfume car :]

Our walk-in closet, mostly my clothes.

My jewelry thing again!

Thomas has a favorite spot in our home. Right next to Grama's elephant!

Our tv and stand we built, that turned out better than our dresser.

Our dining room.

The table and chairs we built! :] Circle table!

Our kitchen. And that is the royal tour!! It hasn't been painted yet but you get the gist. Anyways I'm just excited about it and wanted to let you guys see what I've been up to! Love you all! Meg & Tom
