Hawaii Part Three

Steam Vents at Mt. Kilauea

Mt. Kilauea

We hiked around where the last lava flow occurred. They actually

let you walk around on the active volcano! It was like walking on the moon.

Sulfur Banks

Yes, they do stink. It was also suggested that people

with breathing problems or children should stay

away. . .but nothing about childish asthmatics?

A Beautiful Orchid by the Sulfur Banks

It was actually cold up there, weird huh?

Dad on the Hike Down to the Volcano

It was the most beautiful and spooky hike we've been on.

We started at 5:30 and didn't get back up until well after dark.

Good thing we brought flashlights! We went back up through

the rainforest at night. No one else was on the trail with us.

Fun and creepy!

Evidence of a Large Earthquake

We walked right through here.

Dad Roasting Marshmallows on the Hike

That could be why it was dark when we got back.

We were trying to get the perfect marshmallow shot.

Which one do you like?

This is what we saw when we got up to the top of the trail.

We were right down there! It wasn't glowing

when we were walking around it.

Geckos were all over the place

This little guy was waiting on our porch light

when we got back from the volcano.

Dad's Father's Day Breakfast

The best drink on the island is called POG juice.

(Passion fruit, Orange juice, and Guava juice.)

The bread is guava bread. That's what he fed to

his red-headed bird friend. Oh, and the best

music we found was a Hawaiian reggae station KWXX.

You can stream it through the internet. Check it out Broseph!

Having our Last Island Dinner

Bubba Gump's in Kona

Our Last Magical Sunset in Kona

Some day we may retire there and open up a Mexican fish taco stand.

We can call it "Iz You Hungry?" Still working on the angle

to get me back on that island!

Sadly, All Good Things Must End.

  2. Yeah, I noticed the sweatshirts and thought that was weird! Why was it cold? Just the time of year or time of day? And I can't believe you hiked an active volcano!!!! I'm so jealous I want to do that! And that is hilarious that you guys were roasting marshmallows :] Did they get nice and crispy? Did you eat smores??? I am also jealous that you guys went to bubba gumps. I have always wanted to go there! Was the food good? Also, my favorite pic is now of moms butt!! Woo-hoo!! Make all them tongan boys say hey!!! :]

  3. It was cold and windy up on top of the volcano, I think it's that way because of the elevation. It was pretty exciting to hike on a volcano, especially since we started so late in the afternoon that it was night before we got back up. Luckily, we had our flashlights. It's probably not a good idea to eat marshmallows that were toasted by a volcano, so we didn't. Bubba Gumps was good, but I really liked the view. It was right on the beach, that's the place to live I tell you! OMGosh! REally MeG?! Man, what a BUTT! Tongan boys, you crack me up. :P
